Sponsorship train goes from steam to loco

Our sponsors, whether supporting the offline event today and/or fundraising event this evening are giving their time, money and energy to make Twestival Local: Amsterdam happen. This evening at the Odeon, the community, sponsors and charities will meet side-by-side to greet, give, eat, drink and dance all in the name of social media for social good.

Even at this late stage, sponsorship interest is still mounting in the fundraising party and our pool of sponsors which currently includes Funshirts.nl, CapGemini, Sonos, Seats2meet, Paydro, Mindz, mobypicture, mynameise and PTQ is growing rapidly. The newest sponsors to support the Amsterdam Twestival are UK’s Fluid DJ Agency and local VJs: KGB Amsterdam and Zoek Dekking:

Free educational event for non-profit organisations

Amsterdam Twestival brings you not only one event on 10th September but two events! Sponsored by Seats2meet and Mindz, we’ve organised a unique offline event between 10:00-15:00 in Maarssen, where four of the leaders in the Dutch social media and mobile landscape will give there time, at no cost to share their knowledge. But there is a catch! We’ve restricted this day-time event to individuals, volunteers and employees from Stichtings and NGOs, as long as you work with or have an association with a non-profit organisation, you’re through the door.

This educational event forms part of our roadmap, which we set-down at the beginning of this fundraising project. Our aim is not too just handover money to the 6 charities but to educate them and as many Stichtings, NGOs and aid organisations on the benefits of social networking. Many of the charities we spoke with, were familiar with or interested in using Twitter or Facebook in their fundraising campaigns but lacked in-depth knowledge on how social media could help them to connect and create conversations with donors and supporters.

The speakers will present in Dutch and entrance to Stichtings and NGOs is free of charge. With only 100 seats available, please register online in advance.  You will then receive an e-ticket which you must print and present upon arrival. In addition, not only do you get free entry to this event but also, our fundraising party later that evening hosted at the Odeon Night Club, Amsterdam between 19:00-02:00.

Amsterdam Twestival announces local charities

Once again we are starting with zero budget and creating an event to benefit good causes and the community through the power of Twitter. With the same goal as back in February, every euro raised through sponsorship and ticket sales will go to charity. Our first event raised Euros 2,653 in aid of charity: water who provide clean safe drinking water to third world countries.

This time we are setting our sights even higher with the goal to raise funds which will be equally distributed to 6 selected national charities. In addition, we intend to share feedback and keep you updated on the charities following the Twestival event. De Regenboog Groep is a non-profit foundation that provides daily care and support to men and women effected by homelessness, drug addiction, social and psychiatric issues in Amsterdam. Our professional staff and volunteers offer emotional support, shelter and structured activities which encourage social contact and help relieve isolation and loneliness providing these individuals with the tools necessary to lead a fulfilling life.

Founded in May 2002, KiKa (Kinderen Kankervrij) is dedicated to raising funds for research into the cause, prevention, treatment and cure of childhood cancer. The newest gene research provides our seven chosen national medical and academic centers with the support to continue their important work in improving treatments and developing a cure for children affected by cancer.

The Nobel Foundation is a group of creative people from the field of communications who volunteer their time to raise awareness and funds for social causes through creative means. The newest project ‘Honey Bee Happening’ aims to educate the public on the invaluable role of the honey bee and the threat of its extinction. In cooperation with local bee keepers, the Nobel Foundation plans to install beehives on selected rooftops throughout Amsterdam to promote urban breeding.

HandsOn Microkrediet is the first privately funded charity within the Netherlands aimed at supporting impoverished individuals with loans (micro-credit) and coaching to develop their skills and abilities to realise their potential as a micro-entrepreneur and sustain an income from self-employment.

CliniClowns Nederland provides a distraction to children suffering from illness, trauma or disability by playing with the children, placing them in a situation in which they have control. We currently have around 70 CliniClowns working in more than 100 hospitals and other care institutions throughout the Netherlands. In association with Neuzenroode.nl, we are able to communicate with children being nursed at home via webcams, creating a virtual world in which the children can do all sorts of adventurous exploring. We also organize events and tours to reach even more sick and/or disabled children in need of our services.

Wakker Dieris an animal rights organisation that campaigns against the factory farming of animals. We speak up for the animals, give them a voice. We believe that all animals should have access to roam outdoors, receive anesthetic before any medical procedures and no longer endure long distance transportation. Our campaigns have successfully banned battery eggs, foie gras, un-sedated castration of pigs and removed white veal from all Dutch supermarket shelves. Wake up! Support Wakker Dier.
